Press conference held to announce the Cheyenne Marathon certification.
Today, July 18, 2018 a press conference was held at Platte Valley Bank to announce that the Cheyenne Marathon received official certification from the USATF. Platte Valley Bank is the Title Sponsor for this event.
On July 15, the first ever Cheyenne Marathon received official course certification from the USA Track & Field. The purpose of the USATF course certification program is to produce road race courses of accurately measured distances. For any road running performance to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked, it must be run on a USATF-certified course.
This certification will also help to draw experienced racers from all over. The Cheyenne Marathon currently has 347 runners registered from 29 states. The race will offer Marathon, Half-marathon, and 10-k race to benefit Reading is Key and After School for Kids (ASK).
